Starting last night and running through May 31, I want to encourage everyone possible to vote every 24 hours for our Roseland Park Playground Project Design. We are one of 10 finalists in the Design Grant Contest. I have posted a press release with area newspapers and had an interview with Jade Boise at Cable 8 News. You will see me talking about the contest tonight on the 7PM & 10PM news. Come on Jamestown, vote and we can win this. To go directly to the voting page, click on this link: http://projects.kaboom.org/voting/elections/design_2010.
Vote every 24 hours, and tell everyone you know to tell others to vote too. Thank you.
Hundreds of communities created videos showing why they need a new playground. Five of these communities will receive a $15,000 grant from Let's Play!
Watch NowA playground can be built in a day, but it takes months of planning and hard work. To get there, we've broken this complex process into eight key steps, or Mile Markers, as you can see in this road map.
Of course, planning such a large project takes teamwork. Within each Mile Marker, the Project Leader and eight planning teams, outlined below, complete key tasks, ensuring that no stone is left unturned.
If everyone on the planning committee follows the roadmap and keeps on top of their tasks, they will make building a playground look easy on the big day!
Flash required.
Building a playground doesn't happen alone. It is indeed a team effort. Find out more about the role of the project leader and all of the teams who work together to make playground dreams come true.

Task Update: Hold an initial planning meeting, or a Design Day
I met with the Jamestow, NY Department of Development and Parks, Recreation, and Conservation Department officials June 2007, receiving permission to start 'grass-roots' fundraising. I organized a committee 'Partners for Play" in June and began planning our first major fundraiser 'Music in th Park, which was held August 10, 2007. We opened a pas-through fund at the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation to hold funds we starting collecting from individuals donations, fundraisers and grant appplications. To date our fund holds $21,600. and we ar in the process of applying for a $7500 grant from the Holmberg Foundation, a $5000 grant from the Lenna Foundation, and the Parks Dept 501 c 3 is applying on our behalf to the Sheldon Foundation for a $25,000 grant. When available this summer, our local CHRIC 501 c 3 organization executive director John Murphy will be applying for a NYS Parks & Rec $75,000 grant. The City of Jamestown Mayor Sam Teresi has stated they will commit CDBG monies to complete the project, hopefullyin the summer of 2011. Our committee continues seeking funds wherever possible. We have submitted to Pepsi Refresh Everything website grant contest as well as the KaBoom video grant contest. Please let us know if other sources become avilable, so we may try to take advantage of them. We are determined to have a playground for Roseland Park.

Thanks
Thanks for letting Playworld Systems join your project! We’re a huge advocate for play and we support everyone that is bringing play to the world. That’s our mission! For over a decade, we’ve been KaBOOM!’s partner in play. We’ve helped over 1,700 communities build great playspaces and we’re excited to help with yours.
We joined your group so that you’ll have just a little extra help when you need it. If you have questions on installation, fundraising, or just about anything for your playground, please know that we are here to help!
Do you have any specific questions for your project?
